Primary responsibilities include building new products, creating manufacturing processes in an NPI cell environment, developing production documentation, and assisting the engineering, production, and quality departments. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 to 10 years’ experience building and supporting custom Wire Harnesses, Cable Assemblies, & Electromechanical Assemblies including Box-Build & Panel Build projects.

The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • MUST have experience building & supporting custom Wire Harnesses, Cable Assemblies, & Electromechanical Assemblies including Box-Build & Panel Build
  • Building new product to customer specifications ~ basic to moderate complexity
  • Creating manufacturing processes in an NPI cell environment and supplying 1st piece articles for customer review & approval
  • Communicating design recommendations for customer products, specifying electrical components, and developing manufacturing processes, electrical test fixtures, & other requirements to meet customer needs
  • Supporting inspection test technicians and the overall team in troubleshooting product build issues
  • Assisting in resolving supplier quality issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Assisting engineering in updating Bills of Material, wire run lists, drawings, schematics, and test procedures
  • Developing and maintaining product documentation
  • Executing and completing projects within established time frames and meeting project objectives
  • Assisting & supporting other departments including engineering, production, quality, and sales

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Ability to read schematics, ladder diagrams, and wire run lists
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment a plus
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment used in the manufacture of these products
  • IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and J-STD-001 training preferred ~ certified instructor status a big plus
  • Demonstrated use of strong Organizational Skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to apply sound judgment & make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to use MS Office (Work & Excel) and the ability to understand the use of other external software to administer the position’s requirements
  • Must be able to work in both an office and shop environment
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Education

  • Minimum of five (5) years related experience in custom Wire Harnesses, Cable Assemblies, and Electromechanical Assemblies including Box-Build / Panel Build in a job shop or contract manufacturing environment

  • Hands-on individual exhibiting a strong work ethic, intelligence, and a positive, motivating presence
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to be persuasive and build proper relationships. Tact, diplomacy, sound judgment, and common sense are a must.
  • The ability to handle interruptions and the willingness to help out with other responsibilities as necessary
  • Ability to complete assigned work on time or early, with a history of meeting commitments
  • Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events
